2012 Piccini Chianti - Wine Review

I don't know why, but the word Chianti always, or more accurately usually makes me uninclined to try the wine.
But having recently enjoyed a bottle, with Mr.R. of 2012 Piccini Chianti, I think my opinion has changed.
I really liked this wine, and at about six quid a bottle, it's one I'd definitely drink again.

Surprisingly nice. Liquorice. 😋🍷😊 #blog #blogger #blogging ©http://laurasdiatribe.blogspot.co.uk #Chianti #wine #redwine #Italianwine #swirlingglass #wineglass

Not surprisingly, 2012 Piccini Chianti, has won several awards -
  • The Dallas Wine Competition, 2014: Bronze
  • Decanter World Wine Awards, 2013: Bronze
  • International Wine & Spirit Competition, 2013: Bronze
  • International Wine Challenge, 2013: Commended
Wine. Red wine. Wine glass.

Made using the Sangiovese (Nielluccio) grape, the 2012 Piccini Chianti had a lovely full-on fruity aroma, and flavour, with a bright berry appearance.
It was full of red cherries, black plums, ripe strawberries, delicious raspberries, anise, and liquorice.
Obviously it may have been the food I ate prior to drinking this wine, but the liquorice flavour was really quite intense, which I absolutely loved.
It's a smooth medium-bodied wine, with lots of character.

Cheers! 🍷 Chianti. Piccini, 2012. Tuscany. Italian wine. Red wine. Wine.

Fortezzi dei Colli Chianti Classico 2012 - Wine Review

Wine - the blood of life.

I usually drink in the evenings, and this wine was a bottle I enjoyed with Mr.R a few nights ago.
Fortezzi dei Colli Chianti Classico 2012 is made using a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes.
This wine has a lovely ruby red colour, and a pleasant aroma of anise, cherries, mushrooms, and plums.
On the palate it is quite dry with a pleasant amount of tannins.
This 2012 wine was drinkable, but a little weak in character and not particularly complex.
I suppose you could keep it for another couple of years, but personally I think wine is for drinking when you buy it, and not for the cellar. ;)

From the label - translated from German so may not be entirely correct.
The Gallo Nero ( Black Rooster ) is the symbol of Chianti Classico .
The Classico Chianti features the oldest areas. Of dark red color with a tendency to Granattonen, berry fruits and cherry on the nose, with velvety flavor and soft tannins, this wine goes well with red meats, game and mature cheeses.
We recommend decanting the wine before serving. After opening please consume within 3 days.

We enjoyed this wine, it was fresh, fruity, and as I can't think of another word beginning with the letter f, I'll finish with drinkable - drunk quite soon after we opened the bottle - the wine was drunk, not us.

Chianti Riserva 2009, Corte Alle Mura - Wine Review

This Chianti Reserva Corte Alle Mura 2009 is made from the Sangiovese grape, and a far as I can remember - it was nice.
It had a pleasant aroma of dried peppers, leather, and vanilla, and a surprisingly smoky scent.
The flavour was quite sharp, with berry flavours, slightly acidic, with a bitter ending.

Inycon Sangiovese 2013 - Wine Review

Inycon Sangiovese 2013

I remember Mr.R opening this bottle of red wine, and I remember us drinking it, but I can't remember what we thought of it.
I'll hazard a guess and say we liked it.
As for the nose, taste etc. I'll say it had the aroma of red wine. And it tasted like red wine.
There, I think that's a thorough, descriptive review of Inycon Sangiovese 2013.
My vagueness is nothing to do with this particular wine. I want to make that very clear - because I actually think we were impressed with this wine, but I just can't remember. Why? Well, it's not because we were so drunk after drinking it that I've forgotten everything about it, if that's what you're thinking. We don't get drunk.
But we do drink a lot of different red wines, so I find it difficult to remember what's what. The only way around this would be for me to write a review immediately after drinking the wine, but that's sounds way too much like hard work. And I'm a slacker by nature.
Crikey! I'm rambling. I blame tiredness. The end!

Here's what the wine label said -
Our beautiful vineyards have been growing for centuries along the rugged coast of south-west Sicily.
Over the years, the skills needed to make great wines have been passed down through generations and remain at the heart of our community life here today.

We planted this classic Tuscan grape variety in our vineyards to make a medium-bodied, fresh red wine with a Sicilian twist.
Packed with flavours of cherries and raspberries, it's the prefect wine to drink the Sicilian way with antipasti and tasty pizzas.

Mmm, that all sounds very lovely.
