Charity Shop Bargain

We like browsing charity shops.
Obviously it's nice to support the charities, but it's also nice when you find something you like, want, or need.

Many many years ago, when we lived in London, we would visit our local charity shops, of which there were lots, mainly we were hunting for books. And we usually found a decent number of suitable books every time we went shopping.
We both enjoy reading, but Mr.R is an avid reader, so we'd get through our charity shop purchases very quickly.
It was while we were book shopping in a charity shop, when we first returned to the UK that, unusually we
didn't find anything we fancied. Not in the form of a book anyway.

We had returned to Blighty with absolutely no belongings, just the clothes we were wearing, so as we love drinking red wine, and beer, we were in need of a suitable receptacle from which to drink them.
We didn't want to buy the mundane high street glasses, or a six-pack of supermarket glasses, or go to cheap-as-chips IKEA, nor did we want to splash the cash by paying a fortune for the finest glasses money can buy, so we were pleased when the charity shop didn't have any books for us, because it meant we browsed at some of their other items.

Glasses to be exact.
No books, no problem.
Instead we bought several glasses. Drinking glasses.
This is one of them, a British Red Cross Society glass, purchased for £1. Excellent!

I love charity shops - British Red Cross Society glass £1  #wine #redwine #glass #drink

So, although I started this blog post talking about books, it has absolutely nothing to do with paper, it's all about glass.
Typical me, taking ages to get to the point. Anyway, yeah, charity shops, we like 'em, and we liked this glass too. It has since been re-donated (is that a word?) back to a charity shop.
Do you enjoy browsing charity shops?
What bargains, or great finds, have you purchased?
