Henry Westons Vintage Cider, 2012

When we were first together me and Mr.R used to spend a lot of time in pubs.
It was many many moons ago, and our usual drink at that time was always cider.
We never really liked the sweet ciders, much preferring crisp dry cider.

Nowadays we mainly drink red wine, and real ale.
We still like cider, but so many of the brands we used to enjoy have changed their ciders, they've made them so much sweeter than they used to be. I guess it's to appeal to their new market, the youngsters who were drinking alcopops, now seem to enjoy chugging bottles of cider, especially the fruit flavoured ones. I don't mean apples, obviously cider is made from apples, but the flavoured ciders that seem to be of sale everywhere; raspberry, strawberry etc. Yuck!

Weston's. Cider.

Anyway, a few days ago Mr.R saw Henry Westons cider for sale in our local Co-Op, so he bought a couple of bottles.
This Henry Westons Vintage Cider is 8.2%.
I didn't have any. Mr.R said it was very good, strong, with a good depth of flavour to it.
Oh well, thankfully there's always red wine to quench my thirst. ;)

From the label on the bottle -
Made using only the very best Herefordshire apples from a single year's harvest. Traditionally crafted and slowly aged in 200 year old oak vats to deliver a full bodied cider with a long lingering finish and an aroma simply bursting with fruit. Delicious on its own or with cheese and meats. Westons Cider has been produced in the village of Much Marcle for over 130 years.

Henry Weston began making cider in 1880, and to this day Westons Cider remain an independent, family owned company committed to making the very best quality, traditional cider. Multi Award winner and recently Silver Medal 2013 International Cider Challenge winner.
